Crash test dummies (anthropomorphic test devices), or ATDs for short, replicate the human body as closely as possible and are used to simulate the effects of traffic accidents. In order to obtain as much data as possible about the effects of an accident, the dummies are equipped with sensors that measure the forces acting on the body during a crash test.
