On August 28th MESSRING hosted a North America user group meeting in downtown Detroit
This was the first ever gathering of most major North American crash labs to discuss common issues and share best practices. Highlights included an in-depth discussion of the MESSRING cart restraint system to protect against secondary impact and facility damage during the US NCAP oblique test. Managing fire risk following an electric vehicle crash test also generated lots of discussion and comparison of different techniques that the OEM’s have in use.
Following the formal meeting attendees were treated to a “beer bike” tour of downtown Detroit and a delicious dinner at a local restaurant. Many people commented on the comradery between crash labs that this meeting facilitated. As one person put it, “we are all in the business of saving lives, and meetings like this make it easier to do our jobs, which is good for everyone.”
The meeting was judged to be so successful that MESSRING is already making plans to make this a regular event.
